Indiscriminate babbling by a ginger with too many hands on his time and not enough time on his hands. Still formulating what types of filth flarn filth I'll be plaguing this corner of the internets with. Stay tuned, cheers. |
Heyo, we got a day off in rainy Pascagoula, MS today. Trying to heal up an ailing throat, while still enjoying the day off :) Feels good to be 2/3’s of the way through the tour. Quite excited about the coming dates in louisiana and texas. Its funny because I see the tour being almost over, but yet there’s still two weeks left, which will fly by. Here’s a rough plot of the next two weeks.

One thing I’ve taken for granted with touring is a map, sounds simple I know, but damn man. I looked at one for the first time in a week today and really took in where I was at. I’m so close to home, but so far away. I’ve read a common complaint with touring is visiting so many cool locations but never really having the time to experience them. I can say, as a band “paying its dues” and playing the lowly bars and pubs circuit this is particularly true. I think one way I will be describing this experience is, I feel like I’ve been everywhere, but have seen nothing. And I harbor no resentment to the fact, its just the way it is when your a band with a tight budget and tight schedule. Hopefully that’ll change soon (thats what we’re out here for no?) and I’ll be able to really take in everything as opposed to just driving through the wonders of america, both natural and man made.
Spending three days with some of robbies friends has been wonderful. I have to say our time in Alabama/Mississippi was far more enjoyable than i expected. We played a killer acoustic set in Mobile three nights ago which was a blast, a very intimate and enjoyable experience. As a drummer it really forced me to get creative with the parts and make them work in a quieter acoustic setting. A fun challenge that I feel was handled quite well :) I think Pat recorded the set so hopefully that’ll surface at some point. Slightly off topic, one of our hosts, Michelle was a softball player for Alabama and won the national title one year (which year slips my mind at the moment), we talked sec football and she showed me her ring, totally random, but embodies what makes this experience great: being on the road, out of my element, staying in a different location almost every night, meeting random people. As Sal Paradise best put it in On The Road, dig it.
Pictures!
